Saint Agatha

Description:

This set of uncensored art reference images includes 11 variations of a powerful look inspired by the baroque paintings of Saint Agatha, the patron Saint of breast cancer survivors, victims of sexual assault and exploitation, as well as wet nurses. Agatha’s journey to martyrdom entailed being imprisoned to a brothel and then having her breasts severed and her iconography is often depicted holding her own breasts on a silver platter. In this case we used the symbolic fruit, pomegranates for the platter. My mastectomy scars included. It was a healing experience for me in this creation of telling her story with what I have to share of mine and I’m excited for you to make more art out of these special images!
